I recently installed Matomo on a server. I'm not a huge fan of tracking software, but Matomo seems like a better option than using Google Analytics. The documentation is good and the installation was easy. The user interface is easy to navigate and the reports contain the required data/information. There are adverts within the UI for purchasing additional plugins from the marketplace, but they are not too intrusive. Overall, I'm pretty happy with Matomo.

Giving the laminas-feed PHP package a try at consuming some RSS feeds. Documentation is top-notch and the package works nicely. Can recommend for feed consumption. AAA+++

I am stuck in the downstairs toilet. The door handle came off in my hand. My wife is upstairs on a call. I'm going to need to message her, this is rather embarrassing.

Switched the default font on my GNOME desktop from Cantarell to Inter. Apparently this is a GNOME design team initiative. Looks good! 👍️

Many months ago, I started watching NCIS on Disney+. I am currently watching season 11 of 21. I've invested too much time to stop now. Apparently this is known as sunk-cost fallacy.

It's good to see that the Fedora Project is asking questions about AI/ML use in Fedora. I suspect this is something Microsoft did not consider asking their Windows 11 users? I'm thinking all of Microsoft's decisions to include AI in Windows were/are financially driven with little consideration given to users. Anyhow, details of the Fedora survey are here: discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/fedora-…

I'm seeing some backlash aimed at Mozilla in regards to their new Ad Tech feature in Firefox. I think it's probably justified. I also think it was definitely to be expected; Firefox has a tiny share of the browser market and I would imagine most its users are technical and probably loyal. It's not hard to imagine how they might feel when their favourite browser starts to disrespect their privacy. Not sure what is happening at Mozilla lately. It's disappointing.

I've been pretty quiet on here for a while (more so than normal). I tend to spend a lot of time riding my bike during the summer months.

Tomorrow, I've been tasked with taking some drone photos. Our regular drone pilot is away on paternity leave. I've never flown a drone before, so I've just taken it outside for a rehearsal flight. IMHO, the hardest part of flying a drone is figuring out how to switch the bloody thing on! Also, the DJI Mini 3 is an incredible bit of technology.

Happy to read/hear that OggCamp is returning after a 5 year hiatus. The calendar has been marked for October 12th and 13th 2024.

The day job has disabled OpenVPN connections in favour of using IKEv2. Took me a minute to get it working under Debian using strongSwan. VPN vendor provided zero instructions for Linux, however Windows and macOS set-up instructions were well documented, naturally.

Sat in a coffee shop this afternoon in Nottingham and I counted 8 laptops being used by customers, 7 of them were MacBooks. I'm not sure this has any significance, but I thought it was interesting. The other laptop was a HP.
