Vivaldi notes
I've been reading a lot of good things about the Vivaldi web browser of late, so I thought I would give it a try. These are my notes on what I did to personalise Vivaldi.

The most flexible browser. Vivaldi has tons of settings and features you can play with, from the super flexible user interface to shortcuts and custom macros.

Just discovered that Vivaldi provides custom icons for iOS. That's a really nice touch!
TIL Vivaldi for iOS has configurable content blocking that allows you to import and use your own block lists. Nifty.
Giving Vivaldi a try on iOS. The built in ad blocker is nice. Settings synced from desktop, including custom search engines, which is also nice. I can’t seem to set a custom new tab page, but the customisable start page is ok.
After more than a week of using/testing Vivaldi browser, I've moved back to using Firefox. I really enjoyed using Vivaldi, it's a great browser with lots of settings/features that other browsers don't offer (without extensions/add-ons). It's good to know that if Firefox ever dies, I can switch to using Vivaldi and be happy.
Also, a good thing to come out of using Vivaldi, it forced me to edit my personal Firefox extensions to work with both Firefox and Vivaldi/Chrome.

Interesting to read that Vivaldi are supporting the new Social Web Foundation, but there is no sign of Mozilla. I guess this is not a surprise as they announced they were shutting down their Mastodon instance last week. Just seems like something they should be involved with.
Having a play with Vivaldi browser. First impressions were not good as there seemed to be a lot going on with the user interface, compared to Firefox. I've since tinkered with the settings and managed to get it looking pretty minimal, which is nice. The amount of settings this browser has is bonkers, in a good way. I'm thinking I'll use it for a week and see how I get on.
We’re not working at Vivaldi, we’re fighting. Fighting for a better web than we have now.
I have Custom Workspaces disabled, but after watching this I may revisit them at some point.
The Fediverse reminds us of the early days of the Web. We are competing against silos and corporate interests, using a W3C-based open standard and a distributed solution. It’s great that social networking companies are supporting the Fediverse, and Vivaldi is pleased to support Social Web Foundation so that we can once again have a town square free of algorithms and corporate control.
