I believe that it's really important to support and use Firefox. Not only do I think that Mozilla understand/support user's privacy more than Google, but I also think it's important for the health of the web that more than one option exists when it comes to rendering engines. Also, it's a really good web browser.
I'm seeing some backlash aimed at Mozilla in regards to their new Ad Tech feature in Firefox. I think it's probably justified. I also think it was definitely to be expected; Firefox has a tiny share of the browser market and I would imagine most its users are technical and probably loyal. It's not hard to imagine how they might feel when their favourite browser starts to disrespect their privacy. Not sure what is happening at Mozilla lately. It's disappointing.
I normally use Chrome for PWAs, which is an annoyance as I prefer to use Firefox as my browser. Decided to take a look at the Progressive Web Apps for Firefox add-on today and I'm glad I did, it seems to work really well and should mean I can get away with only needing to use Chrome occasionally for testing. addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon…
Using Mozilla's web-ext tool to lint and package a browser extension for Firefox that was originally written for Chrome. Just needed to make a single modification to the manifest file and everything just worked. Nice.
Giving the Firefox Nightly .deb package a spin. I normally just download the binary and set-up my own .desktop file etc, so it's nice that Mozilla are providing this option now. I'm hoping that now I'm not using a Nvidia display driver, Firefox runs a bit better.
